Counselling is a collaborative relationship between counsellor and client. Professional

counsellors help clients identify goals and potential solutions to problems which cause

emotional distress; improve communication and coping skills; strengthen self-esteem; and

promote behaviour change and optimal mental health.

Each client is unique and therefore may need different things from counselling. Working with a pluralistic approach allows us to use different approaches and tools to best suit the individual. Our sessions generally last 50 minutes, however different timings can be discussed on an individual basis.

This differs from person to person. Generally, we would start with six sessions and will carry out a review after your sixth session. There is no limit to the number of counselling sessions you can receive. These decisions will be made mutually.

We can offer our clients the choice of face to face, online or telephone appointments –

whichever suits you best. We can even offer a mixture of the three methods to fit in with

your lifestyle and preferences.

Yes. We offer a free, 15 minute consultation online or by telephone. This allows you, the client, to discuss areas you wish to focus on in counselling. As the relationship between client and counsellor is fundamental, this initial consultation helps both parties to see whether they can work together going forward.
